CH JOANSCROFT BASSOON BERTHA, Beth as she was affectionately known was given to me as a Birthday present, and was a true introduction to the breed! Beth gave me a hard time from day one. But she also gave me so much pleasure and enjoyment, as well as teaching me all I know about working, showing and living with Weimaraners, that she is still sadly missed in my life.
Beth was a true showgirl, and although not everyone's cup of tea, she did well in the show ring, never failing to impress on the move. She also tried her hand at obedience, working tests, agility and field trials, but it was working out on the shoots, that both Beth and myself enjoyed the most, she was not the fastest dog out there, but there was little that she missed and she would retrieve both fur and feather to hand, from both land and water.Beth also proved to be an excellent brood bitch and loved being a mum, even her 'seven year old' puppies sat still to have a wash.
Beth is the foundation of the ANSONA Weimaraners, from her first litter she produced two CC winners, ANSONA BE FAIR and SH CH ANSONA CHARISMA. From her second litter she produced the famous SH CH / IRISH SH CH ANSONA PURDEY, along with IR SH CH ANSONA WINCHESTER AT ENRYB and IR SH CH ANSONA KREIGHOFF AT HUNTLY.
Beth and her offspring feature strongly in the pedigrees of all our dogs and help to keep the Weimaraner a true Duel Purpose Gundog.* * * * *

ANNIE was a great character and lived up to her name, she did very well in the show ring, but was easily bored. She also worked each season on the shoot and although she had her own ideas about how the day should go, she was very biddable and had a nice soft mouth.
She was also a good brood bitch, producing good quality and temperament in her offspring, which is still continuing in her grandchildren.
Annie's favourite passion though was food, and she could smell it miles away, nothing was safe if she could get to it! she once ate half a sack full of dry dog food, she look even bigger than when she was in whelp!

SAVRIL LUCKY STRIKE
13/02/89 ~ 01/01/99
Sire: Tasairgid Prime Candidate
Dam: Savril AdeligZeus was Steve's first Weimaraner and was an excellent working dog, he was able to retrieve young poults and bring them back unharmed and in the next breath he could be tracking and bringing down a wounded deer.
All this came quiet naturally to him but it was his ability to work at night and retrieve dead foxes and deliver them to the back of the car! that made him a local hero.
We only used him at stud once, and his offspring showed the same keen game finding ability as he had, his son Apollo filled the gap as a stalking dog but Steve is still waiting for the next Zeus to come along......

Brett served his time in the show ring, and did quiet well, but it was working that he was kept for and this is where he excelled. He has competed in field trials and working tests, but it was the latter that he did well in, in fact he could have been rather good at them, if they hadn't kept using caged game, pity the real thing wouldn’t stay still.
Out on the shoot he was a different dog, he was very willing and obedient and would work for anyone who asked, he had an excellent nose and was a strong keen swimmer, and he won the praise of a lot of beaters and guns.
Brett was only used a few times at stud, but he produced some handsome dogs, non more so than the litter he produced for the Mimmitrix Kennel in Sweden, all of whom have had good hip scores, and done well at working, as well as some good wins in the show ring.
Brett sadly died at an early age and has been missed dearly by everyone at home and on the local shoots, but not nearly as much as be me, a day out on the shoot is no longer as enjoyable and oh how I miss falling over him all day!

Gabi did well in the show ring, but only outside! She would stand up beautifully, but did not see the point in running around a ring!, so she joined the working team. Gabi was placed at working tests as a puppy, but was never field trialed, but she did work all season along side Brett and Zeus, unfortunately she injured her leg and had to take a back seat.
Gabi however perfected her hunting skills in the house, no scrap of food was safe, and especially the stuff the kids put down in their safe place! She also took a liking to the fresh bread that was left to cool down from the bread maker.
At 12 years old Gabi was the boss and spent her days stealing and sleeping in front of the fire, you hardly knew she was there, until your tea went missing or someone tried to come in, uninvited, but that’s Weimaraners for you.

Apollo was the number one dog in Steve's team; he was used mainly on deer and proved to be very useful in this line of work. He had an excellent nose and was a very good tracking dog, showing that the Weimaraner can still do the job they were bred for.
Apollo also worked out on the Grouse moor and in the woods; he had a very strong hunting instinct and was so laid back that you wouldn't believe that he was a Weimaraner! You hardly knew he was there.
Apollo is now a proud dad, Dino ( Ansona Dream On ) has gone over to Sweden were he is learning, not only a new language!, but what it means to be a truly dual purpose Weimaraner.
Dino has settled in well and went to his first show were he was Best Puppy in Breed and also Best Puppy in Show.
Dino in actionDino is now a proven sire in Sweden and is steadily maturing both in the show ring and out hunting.

Malcolm was shown as a puppy and junior with great success, he won many Best Puppy awards and was a pleasure to take anywhere, then due to family commitments we had to take a break.
When we tried to get back into the showring, it was useless Malcolm had decided that every Bitch that came into season wanted to be mated and he would not bother eating in case he missed the chance! Hence he never had the weight on at the right time, so I gave up and now he lives the life of Riley.
He did however get the chance to go out Grouse beating one year and did quiet well, I think he may be a late developer in this line of work; but he is certainly not a late developer at stud work!

Ginny started her show career well and was consistently placed at champ shows in puppy and junior. She was then shown lightly, this was to take time off for maternal duties, she produced a litter to Murphy, then she decided it was not Too Late!!! and produced a litter to O'Mally.
Ginny matured in body, but not in mind! Having the responsibility of a family did not changed her one bit, she was a pleasure to live with but was always looking for something to do and her favorite trick was to empty any and every water dish she could find, (a trait that she passed on to both her daughters! and grand kids!!) she also took over as the Hoover around the kitchen and if it was remotely edible she would eat it!
Ginny also produced a litter to Risinglark Hyperion, the "Game Litter" this litter has done really well in the show ring producing 3 CC winners, 2 of which are Show Champions, and were the backbone of our Breeders Stakes team.
Sadly Ginny had a pyometra and had to be spayed, but at least we have Cleo to carry on our winning line!!
Ginny was a real character and a huge favorite of mine, she left us far too early and will be missed by many, but not at much as me.

Beth is still a baby,(well not really) but she is showing great working instinct and it will be interesting to see how she develops, as this is a new breed to this country.
Beth has now just finished three full season's on our local shoot and I have been very pleased with how steady and responsive she has been, she has an excellent nose and a nice soft mouth and has been a pleasure to take out in company.
She has a lovely temperament and the most adorable expression, that she could almost get away with anything!

Jasper as he is affectionately known at home has done well at shows, although only lightly shown due to pony commitments, he has won a number of puppy classes and BP in breed at both Open and Champ show level.
Jasper and his best buddy Ricki shared a birthday party recently!! he really is a character and is totally devoted to his mum Cleo!!
Jasper has also started some gundog training..............much to my amazement; he actually listens and is very strong and steady on point!!
...........a very obliging hare!!!
Sometimes it's all just too much!!!!

Cleo is now getting her act together in the show ring, she has done well gaining her stud book number and is also an important member of the 'Team'Cleo shows a lot of natural working instinct and I look forward to taking her on the shoot later in the year, she hunts well and is a keen retriever on land and in water.
Out on the shoot at the end of the seasonCleo also started a trend at SKC were we took our KC Bronze Good Citizen Award!!
Cleo at Crufts 2006Cleo is now retired from the show ring and is enjoying her self as my No:1 working dog! Everything has clicked into place and she is proving to be a very good addition to the beating line.Sadly though, Cleo had to be spayed and so we will not be able to breed from this lovely bitch, we are just lucky to have some of her offspring and brothers around.

Sire: Ch Picer Crackerjack
Dam: Wassetwire Poacher's Snare at GermanusSuzy was acquired as a small 'easy' dog for Emma to have a go at Junior Handling, not quiet as easy as we thought, but at 7mths old and Emma at only 6yrs, she came 2nd in her first JH class, and qualified for the Semifinals at Richmond.
Not content with that, I have also shown Suzy, so far she has taken Best Puppy in Show at Accrington, and 3rd Best Puppy in Show at Liver, as well as many other awards at open shows.
We are more than happy with our small 'EASY' little dog, she has a lovely temperament and is Emma's constant companion. Many thanks to Mandy and Claire for letting us have her.
Suzy has started 2003 with a bang, she went BOB and then RBPIS at Bolton New Years day show, and to top that Emma won her Junior Handling class.
Suzy has continued her wining run with BOB and RBPIS at Huddersfield & District.
After a good Puppy career Suzy started her Junior classes with BOB, Terrier Group and then Best is Show at Preston in April.
Suzy has continued her winning ways, only lightly shown due to Horse Showing!!, but still out there doing her stuff, Emma has also started to get the hang of Showing and has had a number of wins in Junior Handling and Breed Classes.
Almost 8................but not that grey yet!!
9 yrs old and can jump just as high as them big dogs!!!!
